Sinclair in San Augustine

Recommended Posts

One of the best gas station photos I've ever seen.  An attendant (the owner, I'm guessing) fills up a car at a Sinclair station in San Augustine, 1939.

This building still stands, as you can see here:  https://bit.ly/3DrsDzV

Many of the old Sinclair stations are still extant, owing to their stucco construction. Because they repeated this architectural style all over, once you look at a few of them you develop a practiced eye and can spot them in towns all over Texas.

Just a remarkable shot taken by Russell Lee.
