Temple Belton Killeen
I was listening to Robert Earl Keen's Gringo Honeymoon Album on repeat this afternoon and thinking how every single song is perfect. I have most of his albums and I think this one is the best ... his magnum opus. Agree? Disagree? I also like No. 5 Live Diner but I think his voice is best on Gringo Honeymoon, which was recorded in 1994. And the songs! "Think it Over One Time," "I'm Comin' Home," "Dreadful Selfish Crime" and, of course, this one, which is the best thing he ever wrote, "Road Goes on Forever" be damned. This one is especially meaningful if you've ever spent any time in Boquillas, Mexico --- which far too few Texans should. It's across the border from Big Bend National Park.
