The Tunis Statecoach Stop on I-10 near Fort Stockton

Recommended Posts

About 20 miles east of Fort Stockton on I-10 is a picnic stop. Thousands of people whiz past it every day without realizing exactly what it is, which is an old stagecoach stop that was originally built in the late 1870s on Tunis Creek, about 1/2 mile southeast of where it is now. In the 1930s it was painstakingly disassembled, the stones numbered, and then reconstructed in its present location.
