Recommended Posts

The picture shown is Company "F" Frontier Batallion, 1882; Texas Rangers, l. to r., top to bottom: J.W. Buck, Pete Edwards, Capt. Joe Sheely, George Farrer, Brack Morris, Charlie Norris, Wash Sheely, Tom Mabry, Bob Crowder, and Cocilio Charo. The first person listed on Top left is listed as J.W. Buck but actually should be J.M. Buck. His name was James Madison Buck.   He is my great-great grandfather. He is carrying Henry Long Rifle which was a massive rifle and word has it was his prized possession. .He lived from 1827 to 1912 born in Louisiana,  but like so many got to texas as fast as he could.  He was in the civil war, afterwards became a Texas Ranger and after that he became the first sheriff of LaSalle County, Texas. Later in life he moved from Texas to New Mexico but won't hold that against him. 🙂 below is a link to his biography on Wiki-tree.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Buck-1643
