PenTex
I was born and raised on a large Angora goat ranch in Real County. There was no doctor in the county so I was delivered at home by the vet. The closest doctor was in Uvalde. Angora goats were very important to ladies’ appeal at that time. My grandfather had the Grand Champion goat at the Fredericksburg livestock show in 1954 and sold it for $5000. $5000 was a lot of money in 1954! Two pictures- the first is of my grandfather- Ernest Eugene Daugherty 1897-1986 and his goat- the one-armed man is the purchaser- and the suit is Jack Richardson 1906-1962 an Uvalde politician. The second picture is of his ribbons for that livestock show.
