Traces
Sometimes the stuff y'all send in floors me. Traces of Texas reader Kirby Warnock took this awesome photo of the legendary Hondo Crouch and country singer Dottsy in Terlingua, Texas back in 1975 and kindly sent it in. Hondo, a fanciful raconteuer and the "imagineer" of Luckenbach, was a true Texas character who ranks high up on my list of Texans I'd love to have met. Sadly, he passed away the next year, in 1976. Dottsy is Dottsy Brodt Dwyer, who's from Seguin and who was a pretty well known country singer at that time. I LOVE her skirt, which SCREAMS 1975 to me. This was taken on the porch of what is now the Starlite Theater. It was the old Terlingua Theater back then, and was sitting empty and abandoned. Kirby says that things were a lot looser in those days. I can only imagine. Thank you, Kirby. Really freakin' great.
