Who Remembers Chuc Wagun?

Recommended Posts

Who remembers the Chuc Wagun restaurants? This one was in Waco. Chuck Wagun was a Fort Worth-based hamburger chain in Texas known for their Conestoga covered wagon-styled hamburger stands. There was no inside seating, so customers either ate in their cars under canopies, under umbrella-covered picnic tables, or took it to go. They were known for three main menu offerings: THE WHEELBURGER-a 4¼ inch all beef patty on a 5½ inch bun, with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and any dressing you want. THE HUBBURGER- a smaller version of The Wheelburger. THE SPOKE-a hotdog! My primary recollection of the Chuc Wagun comes because I had my first tater tot at the one in Temple. I couldn't believe how good they were, how much better than french fries. Still can't.
