Traces Posted January 17, 2023 Share Posted January 17, 2023 A note: My stepmother is Vietnamese and I grew up surrounded by her large extended family and eating a ton of Vietnamese food, including that cooked by my step-grandmother, Bà Hường, who was like a beautiful Vietnamese Julia Child or something. Suffice to say I've had a lot of Vietnamese cooking and, when my stepmother comes to Austin, we hit all of the restaurants. I discovered Het Say Vietnames Kitchen on Oltorf about two years ago and I swear their food is unsurpassed. It's in a non-descript strip center and it's not fancy but everything is fresh and ---- especially for an inexpensive restaurant ---- artfully presented. What a place! I had a bowl of Pho the other night that was fantastic. A couple of weeks ago it was the grilled pork on vermicelli. Again, so good. They make a mean Banh Mi sandwich, too. Traces says check 'em out!
